Members of Ireland's diverse and thriving music scene, Sleep Thieves have gathered rave reviews and a live following to match, having been featured on radio, blogs, magazines and websites alike (both nationally and internationally) and have picked up impressive notices for their synth drenched, beat heavy, hook laden sound and rousing live show. The Irish music media have followed up initial opinions of Sleep Thieves as ‘Ones For The Future’ across 2009 & 2010 by placing their debut album on lists of most anticipated albums for 2011, with State.ie exclusively streaming the album in the weeks run up to its release in April.
The band’s live show received massive notice throughout the year, their Whelans main venue headline show in March 2010 in particular seen as impressive (see press cuttings below for opinion), with The Irish Times entertainment section The Ticket listing this performance in their ’10 Best Gigs of 2010’, where the band were the only Irish band of any type in the list, amongst such company as Blondie, Jay‑Z, Foals, Dum‑Dum Girls and Joanna Newsome which surely highlights their status as one of the Irish scene’s most exciting live acts of the moment.
Sleep Thieves debut album ‘Heartwaves’ has been recorded and mixed by renowned Irish producer Ciaran Bradshaw (Muse, Dark Room Notes, Miracle Bell) at his studio in Dublin and will be followed by a nationwide tour in April and also some dates abroad after this initial Irish campaign.
Since their live debut Sleep Thieves have played some notable shows including the 2009 IMRO Showcase, support to shoegaze legends Cranes at Club AC30 in Whelan’s, with Saint Etienne in Cork Opera House, Dark Room Notes at their album launch, French synth poppers Koko Von Napoo, at the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival (DEAF) and the Dublin Fringe Festival and at the…

To date the band has released 'It Was Only A Satellite' in June 09, a four song EP that showcases both the gentler and the dancier end of their sonic spectrum. Tracks from the EP have been played on stations such as 2FM (appearing in session in Jan 2010 on Dan Hegarty’s show), Today FM, 2XM & Phantom FM as well as many local stations here at home, and BBC Introducing on BBC 6Music, ATL on BBC Radio Foyle, Resonance FM & Diesel Radio in the UK. In June 09 the track 'Osumi' was selected for the Music Alliance Pact playlist of June 2009 appearing on 25 high profile worldwide blogs worldwide and was featured on the IMRO 'Best of New Sounds' CD.
The band also released the well received 'City Lights' as a download single in September 2009, which is now accompanied by their first video directed by IMTV award winning director Killian Broderick. The track was also selected in the Nialler9 ‘Best Irish songs of 2009’ poll, and being listed in 'best of' rundowns on several other blogs.
More recently, Sleep Thieves have appeared on several important 'Faces of 2010' lists, from several blog lists and State.ie’s yearly rundown and compilation of 2010's tips, and the popular site also featured the band heavily in the run-up to their heralded headline show at Whelans on March 24th, with a lengthy interview followed by a glowing review for their explosive and confident live performance. They have also been featured in a full page interview in December's AU Magazine and plan to follow all press & media interest in the band to date to promote the album as widely as possible.
