Arborea is an Indie Folk Rock duo from Maine. Formed in the summer of 2005 by husband and wife Buck Curran and Shanti Curran, their music follows in the progressive Folk Rock traditions of diverse artists like Pentangle, Tim Buckley, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Sandy Denny, and Robbie Basho, as well as contemporaries Iron and Wine, Gillian Welch, Ray Lamontagne, Vashti Bunyan, Espers, and Devendra Banhart. Buck plays guitar, slide guitars, bowed strings, flutes, banjo, and vocals. Shanti provides lead vocals, banjo, ukulele, bowed strings, harmonium, and percussion. Their songs are, as described by George Parsons of Dream Magazine, «Intimate spellcasting affairs; the fact that they are a couple might help to explain the seamless organic blending of their music together. Conjuring truly transportational magic out of the simplest ingredients. Their songs might be a hundreds of years old, and there's little here to lock them into any moment other than forever». In October of 2006 the duo released their first cd Wayfaring Summer to positive reviews and airplay throughout the U.S., the U.K., and Europe. In 2007 Arborea performed at the Green Man Festival in the U.K (with a lineup that included Robert Plant, Joanna Newsom, and Devendra Banhart), the Tanned Tin Festival in Spain (Xiu Xiu, The Dirty Projectors, and Deerhunter), and the Time of Rivers Festival in Portland, Maine (Jack Rose, and Christine Carter). Arborea has also performed live sets in May of 2007, and June of 2008, on the popular Jersey based free form station WFMU with host Irene Trudel, and in November taped a session for Spinning on Air on WNYC with host David Garland which aired on January 20th of 2008 and was re‑aired on November 2008. In April of 2008 the Philadelphia based label Fire Museum Records released Arborea's second self‑titled cd. Helena Espvall's (Espers, Vashti Bunyan) cello playing is also featured on two songs from the new record. In September of 2008, Arborea was…читать далее ↓

Arborea has also curated a compilation titled 'Leaves of Life', with All proceeds from the sales of the record benefiting the UN World Food Program. 'Leaves of Life' was released on 23 June 2009 on Borne! Recordings, and include artists such as Alela Diane, Devendra Banhart, and Marissa Nadler. On June 5th of 2009 the BBC aired a live session and interview that Arborea did for the 'World on 3' program.
